CNC Milling
What is CNC Milling?
CNC Milling is a machining process that utilizes a rotating multi-point cutter to shear material off a work piece until a desired shape and finish are achieved. Because material is being removed from the work piece, it is considered subtractive manufacturing. Milling can be done alone or in conjunction with other machining processes like turning to achieve more complex shapes.
Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining is done automatically, rather than by hand, with the use of computer-controlled machine parts that allow an operator to program in the desired shape and then have the machines do the actual machining.
CNC milling machines can come with a variety of different options that will offer different capabilities and limitations. A professional manufacturer should be able to determine the best option for a given project.
